Zynga responds to claims of plagiarism, says company ‘iterates’

Zynga has been in the headlines recently after a couple of development studios wrote open letters accusing them of plagiarism their games. And Edge magazine followed up with a list of past accusations leveled at Zynga by other companies, which you can read about here.

VentureBeat conducted an interview with Zynga’s CEO, Mark Pincus , to get their side of the story. Pincus says that Zynga iterate on successful genres rather than stealing them, and points out that Tiny Tower isn’t the first ever game about building towers either. He also notes that Bingo Blitz is visually very similar to Zynga’s own Poker Blitz.

You can read the full interview here, including the text of a “confidential” internal memo that Zynga sent employees (and the press) about the matter.

What do you think? Is it plagiarism or iteration? Leave a comment below.
